ABOUT Hunter Laing

Established by founder Stewart Hunter Laing, this bottler holds a privileged position in the whisky business, securing contracts for distillation and cask filling with Scotland's most prestigious distilleries. The long-standing trust built over the years allows them access to the finest distilleries and filling agreements.
Situated in the cool and humid climate of western Scotland, where founder Stewart Hunter Laing built a warehouse, provides exceptionally favorable conditions for whisky maturation. The company takes advantage of these optimal conditions to mature whisky to perfection.
The tasting and bottling processes are conducted by a team of four skilled blenders. They carefully assess factors such as maturation period and blend ratios to expertly judge and bottle the finest whiskies.

The History

1959: Stewart Rain's father, Frederick, founded a whiskey blending business in Glasgow.
1964: Stewart took over his father's business and immersed himself in the whiskey industry.
1970-1990: Expanding the family business brand, including House of Pia blends, into the South American and Asian markets.
1998: Introduced the Old Malt Cask brand's single cask bottling to the market.
2001: Released the Old & Rare "Platinum" series cask-strength bottling, earning acclaim from enthusiasts.
2013: Founded Hunter Rain and Company, headquartered in Glasgow. Absorbed Edition Spirits and Premier Bonding (a bottling company) through a merger.
2016: Acquired the iconic Greenfield site in Islay's Ardnahoe, obtaining planning permission in September for the construction of a single malt distillery (Ardnahoe Distillery).
2018: Commenced spirit production at the Ardnahoe Distillery in October, with the first casks filled in November.
2021: Celebrating the third anniversary of Ardnahoe Distillery, the inaugural Ardnahoe Single Malt Scotch Whisky is produced.
